Submissions for the champion awards are now closed
It is well recognised that the efforts of people working in the field of reproductive justice and abortion are under-acknowledged. In the first of these awards (they have not been a feature of the previous two conferences), people who have devoted time and effort to ensuring that women have access to safe, affordable, and non-discriminatory abortion services will be acknowledged. Given the location of the conference, nominations from the southern African region will be considered. It is hoped that such awards will be made at future conference concentrating on the region in which the conference is hosted.
The following awards will be granted at the conference:
- Advocacy and activism;
- Health and service delivery.
Nominations for these awards will be called for using the following as criteria:
- From a southern African country;
- Evidence of sustained engagement in [research/advocacy and activism/health and service delivery] concerning reproductive justice and abortion;
- Evidence of changes/research outputs as result of these efforts.
A committee drawn from the organising committee will consider nominations. Awardees will be invited to the conference. The awards will be presented during the conference, at particular social occasions. The awardee’s achievements will be presented, followed by a short input by the awardee.
